Governor Nixon Selects Wilson for Prosecutor
At the beginning of March 2010, Governor Jay Nixon appointed Matt Wilson as Adair County Prosecutor. Governor Nixon said “Matt Wilson has shown his capability in handling civil and criminal cases in northeast Missouri, and he has also been active in community leadership roles. I am confident he will ably serve the people of Adair County as their prosecutor.”
On March 23, 2010, Matt Wilson was sworn in and officially took office. Matt is excited to work hard for the citizens of Adair County. He looks forward to visiting members of the community to share his vision, and to win the election so he can continue to be your Adair County Prosecutor.
Adair County deserves a Prosecutor who has experience and will serve with commitment and integrity. It is on these principles that Matt has served his community, and will continue in his campaign.
Meet Matt
Matt grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he received a Bachelor’s of Arts in American Literature. He then continued his education and attained his law degree from Creighton University School of Law in 2004. Upon graduating he moved his family to Kirksville, Missouri where he started working at the Public Defender’s office. A year later, in 2005 he joined a private practice where he continued to focus on criminal law. In 2009 he opened his law office with the goal of maintaining his passion for the law and integrity in the courtroom.
Matt has handled hundreds of criminal cases over the last five and half years. This experience gives him great insight into working hand in hand with law enforcement to protect the citizens of Adair County. As the next Adair County Prosecutor, he will exhibit integrity by making informed and objective decisions.
He is committed to our next generation. He is an Assistant Scoutmaster in the Boys Scouts of America, a coach for Kirksville Youth soccer, softball and basketball teams, and a leader of youth in his local church congregation. He is also a member of the YMCA Board of Directors, where he currently serves as Vice President. He is committed to utilizing our community resources, such as Victim Support Services, law enforcement and is committed to working alongside the concerned citizens of Adair County.
It is this commitment to family and community that drives his desire to be in office. He wants to invest his time and energy in the community he and his wife love, where they will be raising their children, and where they interact with so many great people.
Matt and his wife Andrea have four children. They are proud to live in a community with strong mid-western values. They feel fortunate to have such a variety of activities for the family. They enjoy hiking and fishing at the local state parks as well as cheering on the local high school and University sports teams.
